The Z200 is a radical change from conventional flip phones. And mainly targeted at fun-loving youths and style conscious adults.One look at the phone and everyone will agree that it is quite unusual. As it deviates from the normal clamshell path followed by other handset makers like Samsung, LG and Motorola.
From the colored keypad to the off-center external LCD, the Z200 is definitely unorthodox.For instance the loop at the top of the phone can be used as a strap holder, the off-center placement of the round status display and the uniquely shaped 5-way navigation key create a phone that breaks away from the conventional design of most other clamshell phones available today.
In fact, as the company highlights, the Z200 combines well designed, easy to use details with a design that is unconventional, fun, fashionable, and an unrivaled possibility for personalization. A common trait throughout the Z200 is the ability to customize just about anything.
But perhaps one of the major features that makes it so unusual are its unique faceplate shape and design. The front panel of the Z200 can be changed with Style-Up covers, so the outside of the phone can be coordinated with your appearance or mood to create that special look. The phone comes with 2 sets of Style-Up covers and additional options are available as accessories.
The Z200 goes above normal in audio capabilities. At 40 simultaneous chords, you can be sure that the Z200 will sound great when someone calls or when playing games. The more voices a phone supports, the more like real music it sounds
Additionally, the Z200 comes with a built-in melody composer so you can create your own melody. Add up to four separate tracks by selecting existing instruments to create your own distinctive sound.
Unfortunately the Z200 does not have the ability to record or play WAV or MP3 files. However, additional accessories can be purchased and attached such as a FM radio.Sony Ericsson has always been known for its ability to change the look of the menu, and the Z200 does not disappoint.
But perhaps the most versatile feature is the ability to make and use your own themes. Similar to the T610, the Z200 allows you to change everything: font, colors, backgrounds, etc. There are 3rd party software solutions to create your own themes easily. Just choose the colors you like, add backgrounds, and all you have to do is transfer them to the phone through data cable or infrared.
Edit existing pictures using a basic graphical editor. Granted it doesn’t quite match the tools of PhotoShop, but you can draw simple pictures.
As we have already said, the Z200 is a cellular phone equipped for fun. In fact, it includes three action-packed games: Alien Scum, Honey Cave and Mini Golf. But if you get tired of the preinstalled games, you can download and install from the over 500 games based on the Mophun platform.
A major drawback in this area is that it does not include support for J2ME (Java). Other features that are included include an alarm, calculator, and calendar.
Camera phones are all the rage nowadays. Although the Z200 doesn’t have a built-in camera, an external add-on camera (Communicam MCA-30) can be purchased and attached.
Sharing content with other telephones or PCs is easy. Users can send and receive images using the infrared port on the left side of the phone.
It is also possible to connect the Z200 to a PC with a RS232 cable. And, naturally, WAP is another option. The Z200 comes with WAP 1.2.1 and OTA (Over-The-Air) settings. And lastly, it is possible to create image gallerys and use WAP to download images into the phone.Technical Specifications
