Lets all welcome Nokia to the club of high end touch screen phones. There were phones from HTC , Samsung , LG , SONY and yeah, Apple too. The moment nokia release a touch phone, everyone start comparing it with iPhone. It happened with Nokia 5800 and its happening with Nokia N97 too. However, lets have a closer look at what it has to offer.Nokia Nseries Flagship means highly technologically advanced multimedia devices.
You may not want me to go in detail because the standard of a Nokia Flagship Nseries device is known to everybody. 3.5mm jack slot , GPS , Wifi , > 3 inch Screen ( for touch phones ), 5MP camera , VGA video recording with 30FPS etc are very much known.
However, I will just brush up with stuffs , which are making this handset too hot to handle

Sensing your ‘So-Lo’
The Nokia N97 introduces the concept of ‘social location‘. With integrated A-GPS sensors and an electronic compass, the Nokia N97 mobile computer intuitively understands where it is. The Nokia N97 makes it easy to update social networks automatically with real-time information, giving approved friends the ability to update their ’status’ and share their ’social location’ as well as related pictures or videos.
Widescreen Internet and Entertainment
The marvel of 3.5″ touch screen with Virtual touch input ( I wonder what’s virtual touch ) and physical QWERTY keypad is nicely exploited by Nokia. If nokia claims are true, this will really prove a multimedia computer in your pocket with every feature of a desktop computer. Flash Support while browsing web is now becoming a Nseries Standard.

As I said a 3.5″ touchscreen is huge and if you can customize it with stuffs which matter you the most, nothing could be a better utilization. You have got widgets, and just drag and drop it on the screen. Use it the way you like and you will end up falling in love with Nokia N97.

Device with 32GB inbuilt memory space + expansion slot supporting 16GB memory could just make you feel, ditching your portable HDD.
Comes with Music , is another feature through which you will get upto 1 year of free subscription to Nokia Music Store and will allow you download music till that 48GB device end up saying “I AM FULL”

Conclusion
I know my conclusion of nokia 5800 is still pending, but however with release of Nokia N97, that conclusion will now be even more interesting.
At 550Euros, this device enters the premium segment because at this time of recession, I wonder someone will be that much interested in spending that much on a mobile phone. This is just my thought, but again you never know, it could be a best seller.
Nokia phones are always technologically advanced, and same is demonstrated in real time with release of Nokia N97. Personalized home screen is not new (Samsung phone has it ) but something well thought by Nokia. After all, not everyone uses all the features of the phone.
However, there are certain things which are making me question this handset :
* No disclosure about the CPU specification. After all no one would like this phone to operate slow.
* No ground breaking design, kinda copied from Xperia + HTC tytn II . However, I dont have any complains of the design, the only thing which puts me off is that by the end of the Day “SIZE DOES MATTER” . With a slider qwerty keypad and hefty weight it becomes a bit bulky and wont let you feel comortable while sliding it inside your gene pocket.
* The official video release showed nice animated menus and transition between screens. However, the same is not there in Hands On Videos.
* I know multitouch is more or less a gimmick than having any actual use, but Nokia should have given a thought on exploiting that.
Rest everything about this phone is really great, and am just waiting to see an details hands on review. But as usual when everyone is comparing it with Iphone, let me have my thoughts too :

Nokia is doing it that way, They want to compete design with technological advancement,and hence the target audience is totally different. But as I said earlier by the end of the day “SIZE DOES MATTER” .
Iphone is used more of a fashion oriented device, which is sleek , gives a premium look and also has loads of applications. If you are holding an Iphone, people know that its THE iPhone, but here Nokia N97 could make people confuse with HTC or a Sony Xperia.

However, I hope and wish for the opposite of what I wrote in the above paragraph. I want Nokia N97 to be a huge success and finally turn the actual iPhone loving audience to look out for alternatives.
But as the release date is very far , as of now I am just waiting for Nokia 5800.
