Following the New Jawbone release by Aliph last month, I am delighted to say that the this terrific Bluetooth headset is now available to buy in our Treo Store and Centro Store.
The New Jawbone (pictured above) is the next-generation headset from Aliph that provides the same best in class military-grade audio processing technology aptly named “NoiseAssasin” – which eliminates virtually all background noise and provides outstanding voice clarity – as that found in the original Jawbone (my highest rated and bestselling Bluetooth headset).
As you can appreciate from the images above and below the New Jawbone is quite significantly smaller than the original – it’s shorter, narrower and slimmer as well as being 50% lighter (only 10 grams versus 19 grams). At the same time, instead of the perforated front on the original the New Jawbone now sports a lightly textured with a sound-reflective progressive relief which adds a refined touch.Other changes with the New Jawbone include a much simpler and sturdier earbud (below) which you just need to push in instead of the relatively delicate earbud on the original Jawbone which you needed to push, turn and lock in place. The simplified earloop (above left) combined with the significant weight reduction makes the New Jawbone very comfortable to wear as well even if I never had any reason to complain about the slightly heavier original. The New Jawbone also offers a simpler and more robust charging connector (below). The end of its USB charging cable now has a magnet as well as flat connectors to ensure that you can quickly and safely insert and remove your headset. Although it’s great that Aliph chose to include both a USB charging cable and light/slim USB wall charger (below left) as part of the New Jawbone accessory kit I have to admit that I’m a little disappointed that these are light grey instead of black (it reminds me of the old desktops of yesteryear). A plus in the kit is a set of four earloops (leather + plastic x 2 in Large and Medium) as well as three earbuds (S, M, L) to match your ear size and provide better comfort.Last but not least there is the matter of audio performance. I am glad to say that after conducting numerous tests under various conditions I found the noise cancellation capabilities of the New Jawbone to be as great as those found on the original. In this respect it is worthwhile pointing out that both Jawbone headsets offer the very best-in-class noise cancellation capabilities thanks to their superior technology – I have not found a single competing headset that comes close.
Overall, I think that the New Jawbone delivers on its promise of lighter, smaller and more comfortable noise cancellation headset – one that retains all of the best qualities of the original while adding a few of its own such as a more robust body, earbuds and earloop as well as a very complete accessory kit.
If money is no object then I can not more highly recommend to buy the New Jawbone – you will own the very best Bluetooth headset on the market with superb audio quality and great looks. Having said this, if you are more conscious of your budget then there is absolutely no doubt that the original Jawbone (see my review) costing $40 less continues to be a superb investment.
