Not wanting to be left out of the picture, Bell has finally launched the BlackBerry Storm which likewise puts an end to rumors that it’s going to be released at a later date. The BlackBerry Storm is retailing for $249.95 on a 3-yr contract with a minimum of $45/month voice and data plan, $549.95 on a 2-yr contract, $649.95 for a single year and $699.95 minus the contract. Based on the announcement, it’s already available in select Bell Mobility stores in the Greater Toronto area and will hit other branches nationwide starting tomorrow. If you want to order it online, it’s currently listed as temporarily out of stock online, but continues on to say:
Order yours now.
You will be billed in full today and your Storm will ship in early January.
If there are any issues with your order, we will contact you by email. Please ensure that you use a valid email address and check your filtered folders (junk mail) regularly
So if you don’t want to brave the long lines at Bell Mobility stores once the Storm becomes available, then I guess the online route is the safest way to go. Check out Bell’s BlackBerry Storm page here.

The BlackBerry Storm delivers innovative new features and fast performance with the many benefits for which BlackBerry smartphones are known – exceptional wireless email capabilities, premium phone features and multimedia, full HTML Internet access and support for a wide range of mobile data applications.
“Smartphones just got better at Bell as earlier today we sold our first BlackBerry Storm. Bell is offering an unbeatable 3G BlackBerry line up with the addition of the BlackBerry Storm. The BlackBerry Storm delivers a robust combination of multimedia capabilities, improved business tools and international roaming capability – all supported on the proven and trusted BlackBerry platform, and all available with a few simple taps of the screen,” said Wade Oosterman, President of Bell Mobility and Chief Brand Officer for Bell.
The BlackBerry Storm smartphone’s stunning 3.25″ display with high definition-like picture quality features the unique SurePress(TM) technology that depresses ever so slightly when pressed, giving customers tactile feedback and making navigation and typing more precise. Bell makes the BlackBerry Storm an even more powerful multimedia smartphone with a rich TV, video and radio experience. Bell Live TV and video provides full episodes and highlights with exclusive content from HBO, CTV and many others. With over 90 commercial free radio stations, including exclusive content from Sirius Satellite Radio, the Bell Media Player provides access to popular radio stations in various genres including Pop, Urban and Comedy.

Moto Krave ZN4 from Verizon $149.99 (2-yr contract)

Those wanting more juicy details about Motorola’s new touchscreen phone, the Krave ZN4, will be happy with this bit of news we gathered today. It’ll be available from Verizon for $149.99 with a 2-yr contract and a $50 mail-in rebate. Yeah, yeah; another touchscreen phone, so what news? Well, Motorola has given the Krave ZN4 a twist to truly make it a unique device. What looks like a protective flip cover is actually an interactive surface that allows users to access phone features while closed. It’s really quite ingenious and functional.
In addition to the dual purpose flip cover, the Krave ZN4 comes with a 2.8-inch 240×800 TFT display, 2-megapixel camera, GPS, EV-DO connectivity (800/1900MHz), 3.5mm jack, Bluetooth 2.0, virtual QWERTY keyboard with haptic feedback, and memory card support up to 8GB. The lack of Push services will most likely mean that it’s not targeting the business demographic, but it does come with e-mail, IM and an HTML browser which will get you connected wherever and whenever the need arises.
So, does Motorola have a winner in their hands? Only time will tell, but this early on it does look quite intriguing to say the least.

Following hot on the heels of the excellent Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, Samsung have announced their own touchscreen music phone in the shape of the Samsung Beat DJ and first things first, the phone looks absolutely stunning! The Beat DJ has rounded edges giving it a great feel when held in hand and is made from classy, textured materials. But enough of how it looks, what makes this phone tick?
Well the phone, also known as the M7600, gets its name from the Beat DJ application pre-installed on the phone enabling users to mix music and live out their DJ fantasies with a host of scratching, filtering and sampling tools all used with the excellent 2.8 inch TFT touchscreen. With its circular edges and textured finish you can definitely sense the inspiration from a set of mixing decks. Sound quality is also something Samsung are taking seriously with the Beat DJ, enlisting the help of Bang & Olufsen for an unparalleled listening experience. A 3.5mm audio jack also means you can use your own headphones if the ones included aren’t to your liking.
The Beat DJ features a comprehensive multimedia player supporting most music formats as well as high resolution video including full DivX support for fast and fluid video playback. A built in accelerometer rotates the screen to give you an excellent display for watching movies and enjoying the Beat DJ interface. From here on out you might of thought Samsung would hold back on the features due to the focus on music, right?
Wrong! The Beat DJ features HSDPA connectivity for lightning quick web browsing and downloads, plus a built in GPS receiver for location based services not to mention Geo-tagging photos taken with the excellent 3.15 Megapixel camera. The camera even gets a taste of high end Samsung camera phone features thanks to autofocus, face detection and smile detection. Bluetooth v2.0, expandable memory and the obligatory (for a Samsung phone at least) document viewer round off a very impressive package.
