HTC Touch HD – Special Release Report.

This year has seen the previously little known Taiwanese smart phone manufacturer HTC explode on to the international market with a series of fantastic consumer friendly mobile phones such as the Touch, Touch Cruise, Touch Diamond, the Dream G1 and now this, the daddy of them all; the Touch HD.

HTC Touch HD Key Features
The Touch HD took the industry by surprise back at the beginning of September when some leaked pictures and very few details showed up on various Internet tech sites, but one thing was for sure, the screen was looking very special indeed. When HTC confirmed the release of the Touch HD just over a week afterwards, we had our hopes confirmed too; it would feature a WVGA 480×800 screen!
OK, so it may not be true high definition resolution, but in mobile phone terms, this was a huge step forward, especially as the all-important 800 pixel width is perfect for viewing many websites in landscape mode. The massive 3.8″ screen size is important too, as it beats not only the majority of its competitors but retains the same overall footprint too, including that of the Apple iPhone 3G.
The super-clear screen displays the latest TouchFLO 3D software from HTC, which overlays their currently preferred Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional operating system. The TouchFLO 3D system works by scrolling a bar with your finger to access major functions from the Home screen in an attempt to hide Windows Mobile as much as possible. HTC have even bundled the Opera Mini browser in order to avoid the need to use Internet Explorer.
Unlike previous Touch handsets, the Touch HD contains all the major functions of a top range modern smart phone. It’s a 3G mobile with HSDPA support and Wi-Fi connectivity, there’s built-in GPS with Google Maps, a 5 megapixel camera with selectable autofocus, FM RDS radio, MP3, YouTube and video player plus a 3.5mm jack plug for your own headphones.
Release Date for the HTC Touch HD.
The HTC Touch HD is expected to be on sale from the 7th November 2008.
Also Consider.
The touchscreen smart phone market is getting very crowded and despite the Touch HD’s amazing screen, it’s still going to have some tough competition. If you aren’t an iPhone 3G fan, then the Samsung Omnia is one of the most complete packages available and a superb choice, while the LG Renoir KC910 boasts an 8 megapixel camera but no 3.5mm jack plug. Nokia haven’t embraced the touchscreen as yet, but you would be wise to check out both the N85 and N96 before the purchase of any smart phone today. It’s not going to be an easy decision, but it’ll certainly be a fun one!

CES 2009 didn’t even begin properly, and Sony Ericsson has already announced two new phones: Sony Ericsson C510 and Sony Ericsson W508.
The first one, Sony Ericsson C510, is an old acquaintance of ours, as we’ve seen it several times until now, sometimes under the codename Kate.
Presented as the most affordable Cyber-shot phone to date, the C510 is a good looking candybar that brings a new SE feature, namely Smile Shutter. This is a “clever technology that detects a person’s smile and immediately takes the photo.”
Said new feature will also be embedded into the 8MP C905, by means of software upgrade.
Back to the C510, though. Unfortunately, Sony Ericsson’s official website doesn’t have high-res images with it for the moment, so this picture is all we have:
We’ll update the article when proper images are available, of course.
Meanwhile, let’s take a look at the features and specs of Sony Ericsson C510:
*
2.2 inches TFT scratch-resistant display with 262K colors and 240 x 320 pixels
*
3.2 MP camera with autofocus, face detection and geotagging
*
Slide in lens cover
*
Illuminated imaging shortcuts
*
Auto-rotation
*
Snapfish application (by HP)
*
Google Maps
*
Access NetFront browser
*
Email
*
Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync
*
YouTube upload
*
Bluetooth
*
Media player
*
FM radio with RDS
*
SMS conversation style
*
100MB of internal memory
*
Memory Stick Micro M2 cards support
*
92 grams
*
107 x 47 x 12.5 mm
There will be three versions of the handset: Sony Ericsson C510 (with quad band GSM and HSDPA 2100 connectivity), Sony Ericsson C510 (with quad band GSM and 850/1900/2100 HSDPA connectivity) and Sony Ericsson C510c (with tri band 900/1800/1900 GSM connectivity only).
All three of them will be available starting this quarter, in two color versions: Radiation Silver and Future Black. A price was not given yet, but it won’t be on the expensive side, that’s for sure.

Google Mobile Looking for Product Ideas
April 3, 2010 by admin

What better way to give the people what they want by simply asking them? An official page has popped up for Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Mobile users who want to suggest and vote on product ideas. Good call, Google! Top-voted ideas include:
* “Manage Google Calendar on Google Mobile (add, update, delete an event with all functionalities of the web application) (ex Phone : Iphone)”
* “A “Google Product Ideas” for all google services.”
* “An application that speaks the driving directions in google maps Usefull to use the phone as gps car navigator.”
* “Mobile view of all type of documents in Google Docs”
* “Google Calendar sync with iPhone, just like Google Contacts and Gmail does now.”
* “Real push mail available for all mobile users (not IMAP) including iPhone WindowsMobile phones, etc.”
Pretty solid ideas all around – as an avid Google Mobile user myself, I could appreciate spoken mapping directions, but a lot of these features, including push e-mail and calendar sync, I already have on BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM), it’s mostly iPhone users looking for something a bit more rich. As for other Google services, the suggestion thing seems likely to spread elsewhere as they’ve set up a new blog to cover what’s going on. Have an idea? Hit up the suggestions page and have your say, and leave a comment below; we’d love to hear what you want to see!
